The effect of group theraplay program on self-esteem and behavioral problems for children with internalizing problems

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to examine the positive effect of group theraplay program on self-esteem and behavioral problems for children with internalizing problems. For this study, five children with internalizing problems were participate in group theraplay program. The group theraplay program was conducted in 10 sessions a week and a session was divided into the beginning, middle and closing. The effects on a group theraplay program was tested by analyzing how the program affected children``s improvement of K-CBCL self esteem scale and behavioral differences during each session. The results of this study were that: First, the group theraplay was effective to reduce internalizing psychological symptoms; Second, the group theraplay was effective to improve self esteem; Third, the group theraplay was effective to improve the positive social interaction and reduce the negative social interaction of children with internalizing problems as well. The above-mentioned findings proved that group theraplay program improved self-esteem and social ability and was effective in internalizing psychological symptoms for children with internalizing problems.
